“Let God Arise and let His enemies be scattered”......Psalm 68:1

Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? My little children let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. I John 3:16-18 KJVCelebrating 27+ years of service to Jesus Christ since September 1992".

Jesus Christ said,” there is No Greater Love then to lay one’s life down for another”…Serving God’s people in prison would seem to be taxing to the minister but personally I have found to be the most rewarding experience in life. At one time early in the ministry I was allowed into the cellblocks where the inmates are housed. On one occasion when I asked the booth guard to let me in to a cellblock, He said “Brother Tom”, why do you want to go into this cellblock? Don’t you know what degree of criminal is in this cellblock? There are gang members, capitol murderers and those who could harm you. My response was there is also someone else in there. He looked at me with a puzzled look and asked who? Jesus Christ and where He is I want to be with and he just shook his head and opened the door. After a few minutes in this cellblock the Holy Spirit fell and the inmates were signing, clapping hands and praising God. God’s Word went forth without challenge by any of the inmates. I glanced back at the booth operator and he just shook his head in amazement. Wherever God shows up there is freedom and liberty even behind prion bars. Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 2 Corinthians 3:17 In Acts 16 we see a similar scenario played out with Paul & Silas being arrested for preaching God’s Word and thrown into prison and locked up in shackles. Paul & Silas never complained but turned to God in praise, worship and singing and God showed up and shook the entire prison facility to such a degree every prison door opened and every band was loosed from the prisoners. The miracle is that not one prisoner fled. Why? Over the years I have asked this very question to the inmates. Why didn’t the prisoners flee the jail when all those doors flung open?  The answer is when God shows up you do not want to leave His Presence. Revival broke out!  Even the prison guard who was about to take his own life because he feared all the inmates had escaped was saved along with his whole family. So what can we learn from this? When life seems to box us in or difficult situations manifest remember that Greater is He that is in you then he that is in the world. God responds powerfully to our praise and worship wherever we are and no matter what situation we are in.

The Lord revealed to me years ago that ministry begins to Him first as if He were the only attendee. The Lord reassured me that He would care for the spiritual needs of those attending chapel. I have never forgotten this instruction from God and He has been faithful to address the spiritual needs of those attending chapel service. Inmates leave chapel service refreshed and renewed in their personal relationship with Jesus Christ. They take extra bibles and Our Daily Breads back to their cellblocks to distribute to those not attending service. They hold bible studies and group prayer service in their respective cellblocks and those with extra funds give to those who have needs. Agape Love never fails. God’s love is contagious!
